The\u00a0Functional Organic Compounds Group<\/strong>\u00a0is an interdisciplinary research team conducting research at the interface of organic, supramolecular, and materials chemistry.
Currently, our main research interests focus on the synthesis of polyaromatic compounds and their use as molecular receptors from simple inorganic ions and organic molecules, up to biologically relevant species. Our research also focuses on designing environmentally-friendly processes for the synthesis of target molecules, including mechanochemical or sonochemical procedures. We design receptors primarily for spectrophotometric and spectrofluorimetric detection, and, thanks to our collaboration with teams working in electrochemistry, we are also investigating their application in voltammetric and potentiometric sensors.
We also have extensive experience in designing modern drug delivery systems based on modified graphene derivatives, cyclodextrins, and magnetic nanoparticles.
