Jakub Cyniak, BEng, MSc

Born in 1998 in Łódź. In 2017, he began studying chemical technology at Faculty of Chemistry WUT, graduating in 2022 with specialization in medicinal chemistry. Since 2022, as PhD student, he is researching novel polyaromatic AIE-active chemoreceptors and possibilities of their sustainable synthesis. Since October 2025, he is employed (part time) as an research-teaching assistant. In his free time, he collects vintage fountain pens.

Joachim Ażgin-Gontarek, BEng, MSc

Born in 1997 in Warsaw, graduated from Military University of Technology with a master’s degree in chemistry. Since 2016 part time employed in Tele and Radio Research Institute in high vacuum laboratory. Since 2022 as PhD student, he is researching novel molecular receptors for cations based on sumanene molecule for application in potentiometric sensors. His scientific interests include organic synthesis and electrochemistry. In his free time, he cooks Indian food and enjoys analogue photography.

Paweł Maliszewski, BEng, MSc

Born in 1992 in Warsaw, graduated from the WUT with a degree in Chemical Technology. While completing his master’s specialization in Medicinal Chemistry in 2017, he began his career in the pharmaceutical industry at Celon Pharma S.A. He worked as a Medicinal Chemistry Specialist and later as a Senior Specialist Synthetic Chemist, focusing on the design and synthesis of APIs and innovative chemical entities for drug discovery. Since 2024, as an Industrial PhD student, he has been conducting research on the synthesis of PROTACs as potential therapeutic agents in cancer treatment.

Stanisław Kulczyk, BEng, MSc

Graduate of the Faculty of Chemistry WUT, conducted internships at Osaka University (Sakurai Group), Uppsala University (Erdelyi Group), Polish Academy of Sciences (in Gryko Group and under prof. Mąkosza). PhD student since 2025, he is developing new macrocyclic polyaromatic metal cation receptors. His scientific interests include physical organic chemistry, molecular modelling and chemistry of polyaromatic molecules. Enjoys travelling, language learning and Eastern calligraphy.

Krzysztof Melcer, BEng, MSc

Born in 2001 in Wejherowo, he began studying chemical technology in 2020 at Faculty Of Chemistry WUT. Graduated in 2025 with specialization in medicinal chemistry. As a PhD student since 2025 he is focusing on polyaromatic AIE-active chemoreceptors and sustainable synthetic methods, such as sono- and mechanochemistry. Privatly fan of basketball and craft beer.

Vivienne Moloney, BSc

Born in 2000 in Warsaw, she graduated with BSc in biomedicine in 2023 (Birkbeck, University of London). With pleasure she moved to WUT to study industrial biotechnology (MSc). Her current research focuses on heterocyclic AIE-active compounds.

Rafał Śliwa, BEng

Born in 2002 in Radom. In 2021, he began studying chemical technology at Faculty of Chemistry WUT. He’s currently a Master’s Student with specialization in Medical Chemistry. His scientific research is focused on polyaromatic AIE-active chemoreceptors, sustainable synthesis methods (mechanochemistry) and supramolecular ferrocene-based compounds. He’s also a finalist of Gold Medal of Chemistry.
